We Have The Flu

Just wanted to give you a quick update. I've been MIA this week because we have the flu. I've been sick since Sunday. I had no idea that chills and body aches could hurt so bad. I am a grown woman who was brought to tears by the pain.  So to watch my Lil Man cry that everything hurts is extremely hard! And of course I feel so helpless because I can't make the pain go away. Lots of snuggles and pushing the liquids is what's on the agenda today.

Out Of My Control

In church, we've been talking about the Upper Story and the Lower Story (cliff notes version is that what you think is supposed to happen or how it's supposed to happen doesn't necessarily mean that's the way it's going to happen or should happen)  Fast forward to today.. the day before my 28 mile race.. the one that I registered for on a whim, one that I was actually really looking forward to the challenge... pretty sure I would finish but as you know anything can happen.. but ready to give it a try...

Trails, Strollers And The Stomach Bug

*Affiliate Links What a title right? But trails, jogging strollers and the stomach bug has been my last week or so. I was able to get out on the trail last week with a friend. It was my first time to run 8 miles on the Appalachian Trail. I love the views! And I can't wait to do more. People Ask Me Why I Run

There are actually many reasons why I run. And my reasons evolve. But there are some days that the stress consumes me - that it's so intense that it feels like it's crushing me. I'm not at liberty to tell you the exact reason - it isn't my story to tell. But when a loved one is hurting, you hurt also. And when you are logistically too far away to realistically help, it’s hard. Lil Man was asking me questions this weekend. And I was forced to say out loud the reality – the word that no one ever wants to utter.... To continue reading the rest of the article please click here . Share this on Facebook? De-railed By Sickness

There's nothing like a sick kid to totally rearrange your plans and set your heart into a flutter of worry. Lil Man started with a little cough on Friday. That cough has turned into this... one scary as heck time of our lives..

Only The Lonely - Life Of An Injured Runner

Being injured is lonely. First of all, no one but you know exactly how it feels. You are the only one that's literally feeling the pain and the emotional anguish. Other people may identify ( if they've been there before ), but at that moment, you are the one 'dealing' with it.  And then, if most of your friends are 'runners' or active people, and if the only time you really saw those people was during running or activities, then it's especially lonely when you are the one not participating anymore. People move on, find other running partners and friends, and you aren't necessarily 'forgotten' but you are no longer a part. And mentally, that can be tough.   And this week has been an especially trying week. In addition to my own physical and mental pain, Lil Man is sick... bad sick. I've never heard his cough be this deep and rough before. After puking up green mucus today, we took him to the DR. We were told it's viral, and I...
