Bye Bye Physical Therapy

A couple of weeks ago, I asked PT if I was ready to graduate. We both decided to wait and see what happened after I'd been running/working out for a few weeks. Well last week, I graduated from PT. Yeah! Am I 100%? Umm... no... but basically I need to continue to stretch, foam roll, and listen to my body. We agreed that if I was hurting and after a couple of days of rest still had issues, that I would return. Sorry to be so MIA here on the blog. I have been focusing a lot of my attention on instagram it seems. I enjoy the community there, and the motivations from others. So if you follow me there then you know I've been running. Oops I Did It Again - Too Much Too Soon

Please note this post contains affiliate links.  Shaking my head... seriously... ugh..... so this past Saturday I ran 4 uneventful miles. It was my first run in a long time, and my first 4 mile run in months. Sunday I rested. Monday, I did the legs day resistance training for the Bikini Body Guide app. Let me tell you it's an awesome workout. I struggled through some of it. By the end of the day I was starting to feel sore, but I didn't think much of it. I think it was the walking lunges and the step ups that did me in. Tuesday I wanted to do a 6 mile run. I was going to do an out and back. But I decided since it was so warm to stay close to home and do a 3 mile loop, stop at the house for water, and then go back out again. THANK GOODNESS I stayed close to home. At about a 1.5 miles of hills, I felt more than tenderness and it hurt to run. So I walked/ at times limped my way back to the house. Wednesday I foam rolled, soaked, iced and even tried heat. By the end of t...

Injured Again - Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

So.... over.... this..... No, really, I'm over being injured. I looked back and from my very first Half marathon in 2011 (where I wound up with 3 stress fractures in one foot from that race and didn't know it) I have been injured every year in the fall/winter since then. I am serious. Tendonitis one year, a calf tear another year, a hamstring injury, and now this... Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendonitis with a touch of Plantar Fasciitis for a little more fun. My right foot is a mess. Thankfully (at the moment) the pain is bearable. But when the urgent care diagnosed me

When Injuries Re-Write Your Future

I can't stress enough how being injured, or removed from something you really enjoy doing, gives you time to think and re-evaluate. You know those Spring races I was talking about possibly doing? Well.... that training plan that I had hoped to start the first of January is out the window...  I'm only currently approved to do PT exercises which is basically hip/core strength and stretching and very little of that.  I am seeing a little improvement in flexibility which is good. Even little progress is progress But my hopes of racing a Spring 10 miler...

My Knee Hurts

Image Source  So I managed to mess up my knee a little (or I'm hoping it's a little and not a major issue). After a few days rest, I tested it out yesterday with a treadmill run. I almost stopped at a half mile, but decided to go a little farther. It either loosened up or I got so caught up in the run that I ignored it. But both of my knees have been a little angry with me. I'm hoping this is just a minor issue, and I can move on. Since I haven't been able to exercise as much as I wanted, I've been focusing a little more on nutrition. (Or I like to think I am. Some days, I'm just not sure). But I came across some helpful info ( Packaged Clean Eating)  My knees are a little better today. I'm actually considering going out for an afternoon/evening run once Lil Man wakes up from his nap . Scratch that, I just looked outside and it's raining. So maybe I'll either hit the treadmill once Hubby gets home. I actually enjoy running in the rain, bu...
