4 Mile River Run

This morning started off dreary, foggy and rainy. I had planned to possibly try to get a 2 mile run in on the dreadmill. I haven't run in a week due to being sick, and I wasn't sure how I'd feel. By 2:00pm the sun was starting to shine. By 3:30 it was gorgeous outside. I decided to go down to the river walk. There weren't many runners out when I was there. But it was a beautiful day to run. I was overdressed. I didn't need the long sleeve shirt. I was struggling at first. I hadn't run in a week, and I always have problems with my breathing when running. Add in the fact that I'm still congested and that didn't help matters. I had told myself that I would like to run 3 miles since it was so nice. As I was nearing the half way point, I was close to an intersection. I decided to run to the intersection and turn around. When I got back to my starting point, I was just shy of 4 Miles. Instead of stopping, I decided to continue on the path until I reached 4 Mi

Sick

Can we say sick? As in I am extremely sick. I haven't been able to workout all week. I just walked up the stairs, and I am wheezing like I just ran up a huge hill. I hope I'm about to take a turn for the better. I sure hope so. This has been a tough week. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Vinnie's Kids 5K Run

What a disappointment this race turned out to be. I think I put too much emphasis and pressure on myself to go out and PR. I started off with an 8:40 mile, but I just couldn't hold on to it. I got slower and slower as the distance went on. I am still waiting on the official results, but I believe I came in at 28:22. But I suppose every run/race can't be a great one. I'll just have to train harder/smarter for the next one. I just registered for Logan's Run for April 10. I also plan to do either another 5K or a 5 Mile race on the 17th. I'm waiting to see what the fertility dr says about my running before I register for any more. Hopefully I will be able to continue to run the shorter distances. HG got some good pics today for me of the race. I'll have to get them posted. I am putting my training for a half marathon on hold this year. My current hope is that I will be allowed to continue to run the shorter distances. I guess I'll know in about 4 weeks or

Run 4 Luck 2010

The wind was incredible. We lost electricity around 4:00am. It stayed off for an hour before it came back on. Then it went off again. It blinked off 3 times before I left for the race. That should give you some indication of the wind that I was dealing with. As I type this, we currently do not have electricity. I was home for about 30 minutes before it went off again. This time it has been off for hours. I had really wanted to do this race in under 39. But with the weather conditions, I just wasn’t sure how it would go. The starting horn went off and here we went. I was hemmed in and determined to get unhemmed. So yes, I went out too fast. Way too fast for me. At one point my pace was around 7:00 minutes which was way too much for me. I slowed down but tried to keep a decent pace as best as I could. I was doing ok until around mile 2.5 and I started struggling. I didn’t remember it being this hilly last year. I tried to keep my pace under 10:00 but at times just couldn’t. Around

4 Mile Run

What a BEAUTIFUL day for a run. The temps were in the mid 50's. The wind was a little chilly at times, but overall it was truly gorgeous. I had a long day at work with a long meeting, but it felt great to just get out there and run today. I struggled during the middle of the run, but I was able to push through it at the end. I hope I have a decent run on Saturday. My goal is to get a short run in tomorow.  Hopefully my schedule will allow it. Today's Mile splits Mile 1 ~ 9:39 Mile 2 ~ 9:59 Mile 3 ~ 10:19 Mile 4 ~ 9:05.

Saturday Run ~ State Hospital

The sun was beautiful today on my 3 Mile run. It was still fairly cold with the wind chills in the upper 20's, lower 30's but the sun made a huge difference in the feel. I'm a little disappointed with my pace lately. I feel like I am getting slower instead of faster. But maybe that will change soon. My first race this year is next weekend. It's a 4 Mile race. The best I can remember is that it is somewhat hilly. Right now, the weather forecast is showing rain. Hopefully between now and then it will change. It wouldn't be the first race I ran in the rain, but I'd prefer it not be raining. I would like to run it under 39:00, but time will tell. Lately my pace has either just been under 10:00 or over 10:00 per mile. I guess we'll find out next weekend.
