No More Starting Over

There is no more starting over - no more starting again - no more I'll start tomorrow...because last night I got ' the call ' that brought me to my knees - the call that ripped through my very core - the call that had me crying out to God within the hollow depths of my being.... And I informed my family that I wouldn't tolerate any attitude or negativity, but I am taking charge of what is brought into this house as far as 'nutrition' goes. We aren't swimming in the best genetic pool when it comes to health. As I birthed my son into this world, I knew he had some check marks against him when it came to his health. And although there isn't anything that I can do about that, there is something that I can do... and that is to the best of my ability and knowledge give him the healthiest lifestyle possible.

What 5 Days Of Eating Clean Did For Me

*affiliate links Well, the reality is that I was supposed to post my 'after' 30 day pics from eating cleaner next weekend. And I could post pics, but they will look the same as the first ones because honestly my challenge didn't really happen when I had hoped it would. I kept doing that vicious cycle of starting over again and again. But, this past weekend I joined the clean eating challenge on Facebook, and I have to say that well, for the most part I stuck with it. I am finding ( I hope ) my balance, and my lifestyle plan. I plan to post my 30 day pics on January 1st . But I did want to show you these. And no, not because I really need to get my nails done. But I have been having problems with achy joints, unable to close my hand completely etc. After 5 days of ditching most of the processed food, I could close my hand completely. Then I had an over-indulgence day - and not to say that these won't happen from time to time. And I don't plan to feel gu...

My 30 Day Food Challenge Starts Now

If you've been following me then you know that tried to sugar detox and I crashed and burned badly on the fourth day. And since then I've tried modified versions, but not really wholeheartedly. Recently, I was approached by a mail order food plan to test their food and review it. I had never heard of them before, and after a little research I thought that I might give them a try. Their food seemed healthier than most traditional frozen dinners. And they had very strict guidelines that I had to follow. If I didn't, I would be kicked out of the program, and I would have to reimburse them for the food. This was enough of a 'yikes' factor for me that might force me to stay within the program. I would really like to see results with decreased sugar consumption and overall healthy eating. However, after thinking about it for a couple of days, I honestly didn't want to eat something different than my family. I would be preparing the meals that were sent to me. But...

This Time Feels Different - Dietary Goals, Fitness Goals & Running Goals

This time it feels different. This weekend has been the most stressful, upsetting weekend that I have had in a very long time. I'll save you the whole saga, but long story short my 'half marathon that replaced my marathon' was Sunday. That was part of the saga, the other part was dealing with sadness at the loss of a life, and some other personal things that I'm dealing with... let's just say... it was a very emotional weekend. But last  Friday I decided that it was really time to try to make a really hard effort on the dietary goals. I am NOT cutting out all sugar. To me, at this point, that would be setting myself up for failure. Instead I'm cutting sugar out in stages or basically learning moderation. (Fun Size instead of FULL size - although I've always thought fun size was a dumb name for smaller sized candy) I'm 5 days into this dietary goal, and so far so good. I'm not feeling deprived. I know I could be doing more by having 'less...

Clean Eating - The Journey Begins

I'm still feeling as if I'm on a boat without the view! But I'm hoping the vertigo is going to completely leave me soon - especially since I have a Half Marathon NEXT that's right NEXT weekend. {trying not to freak out here} Anyway, although I'm still not feeling great, I decided to try to do a little research on "clean eating". I know that realistically I'm not going to cut out every ounce of 'unclean' food out of our diet. But what I'm hoping to do is make smarter choices, and start to incorporate some healthy foods and eating habits into our lifestyle. With just the little research that I've done on the subject, I realize that my current diet is for the most part mainly processed foods - even the foods that I considered 'healthy'.  I came across this article from Prevention  on 23 Ways to Eat Clean  Image Source  This article broke it down into 1st choice, 2nd choice and limited. And it really helped me to und...
