When #Stella Came To Visit

First of all, let me say, I feel like I've dropped the ball a little with writing. I've been struggling to find the rhythm of all, but I'll get there. This nagging hip injury has definitely thrown off my groove.

But as I've said before, and I'll keep saying, life is a journey. And it gives us time and time again to learn from experiences. I keep repeating old habits, (doing too much too soon) but I'm also learning as I go.

That being said, I ran 1 mile. I didn't feel pain, but I did feel some discomfort. So I knew that I wasn't currently able to run during the upcoming nor'easter.

So, Monday, I got up super early (4:30am or so) and went to the gym to ride the stationary bike. With the upcoming storm, and the fact that I wasn't able to go in the afternoon, early Monday morning was my only chance of getting in my cardio for possibly days. So I rode the stationary bike for 12 miles.

(Side note, I'm wearing the new sidewinder print in the lotta breeze capri and the free me tank. I love them both. Check them out here and use code 1SSCAPT20 to save 20% (affiliate link)

I decided to post a before picture of our snow storm. I found this measuring stick at Target on clearance. I'm glad we got a chance to use it this year.

We woke up to this.

It snowed most of the day. My final reading was around 16", but the wind was blowing which made it difficult to get an accurate reading. I believe that we got more than 16".

Trying to get the snow off of the trampoline was insane. But the trampoline was struggling with the weight, and we had to get it off.

The winds really started picking up, and the temps were really falling. It was brutal out there.

But of course, we had to get some sledding in too :)

As I write this we are on day 2 of no school. The roads are passable, but they definitely aren't snow free. And the wind is blowing snow everywhere,  So I'm glad I got up really early Monday and went to the gym! Although shoveling snow and trying to get all of the snow off of the trampoline was a good workout. It left me sore. :)

Also, I got my TRX system in the mail Monday. I love it. I have used one from time to time at the gym, but now I can use it at home. Also, I wasn't aware that there were workout videos. So I plan to add in one TRX video workout a week. .

So, #Stella came fast and furious. And honestly it's still snowing a little. But Lil Man and I have truly enjoyed it :)

Writing is one of my passions, and I'm stepping out there on faith to follow my dream. If you like this blog or this post, please take a moment to share it with friends.

  1. WOW you guys got a ton of snow! We didn't get as much as we were expecting but still quite a bit.

I'm sorry your hip is still bothering you. I hope you heal up quickly. I know how much an injury can be a life-suck.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

When The Planner In You Must Be Flexible

In case you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m a planner. I know - shocker right?!? :) So although I love substitute teaching, it’s making the planner in me anxious. And it’s been reeking havoc on my workouts. Basically the morning of or maybe the night before, I find out if I’m working. So my day ( that I thought I had planned ) can be turned upside down in an instant. But, truthfully, isn’t that really the same with everyone?
