I hate them... no.. I really really really really hate push-ups. I guess the reason I hate them is because they are so hard for me. But if you've read my previous post (How I'm Learning To Do a Pull-up) then you know that I want to be able to do a pull-up by my birthday in March. So that means I'm going to have to get stronger.
And one way to do that is with push-ups.
Doing a simple google search on push-ups will give you list after list of websites telling you how beneficial push-ups can be. The cliff notes version is that they work your entire body, they help build core strength, can help with balance, and help build and define muscle. Oh, and they are easy to modify. When I start losing form, I drop to my knees.
Another benefit about push-ups is there are so many different types that you can do. To make things more challenging you can always use a stability ball or a bosu ball. I also use my Plyo Box and do decline push-ups.
And if you really want to get into your push-ups,
check out the site Greatest, (NO affiliation) where I found a list of 82, yep, 82 different variations of push-ups. If that doesn't give you some ideas on what all you can do with them, then I give up ;). After I found this great list, I do plan to start mixing up my push-ups and add some variety to target the muscles in different ways.
But seriously, push-ups are a great exercise that you can do pretty much anywhere. (And yes confession time, before I had Lil Man, I did push-ups in my office when I was on break). Today, it was me doing push-ups before taking Lil Man to school. (And he was my camera man)

So I said all of that to say this.... if you aren't already doing push-ups in your routine, I encourage you to start. The only way to get stronger is well.... work to get stronger.
So, who is with me?
Drop and give me 10! ;)

I actually love push ups, though I find them really difficult. I watch some men do them (and strong women too) and they can get so low! Or they do them with their elbows in close to their bodies...so hard! I think I need to work on them a little. :-)
