Trail Running, Fear, and Me

For a very long time, I let fear (and comparison) stop me. So the fact that I'm still running, pushing past my comfort zone, and finding a stronger me feels good - really good. (Don't Let Fear Stop You)

But I won't lie, it's not easy. And there are some days that I have to literally give myself a very persuading pep talk to get out the door. Sometimes Hubby chimes in with encouragement. Sometimes I'll think of Lil Man and how I don't want him to be held back from doing things that he enjoys because of fear.

Look at what I would have missed this week if I would have let fear stop me?

And with every run, I learn something new about myself. Trust me, I learned a lot when I feel (It Was Bound To Happen).

I am so thankful for a supportive husband. And I'm glad that I'm pushing past the fear and becoming a stronger person because of it.

I know sometimes people think that (moms especially) who spend time exercising are being selfish for being away from their family. Let me clarify, most of the time, I am exercising while my family is still asleep. Those other times Lil Man is either with me, or having some freedom away from me at the gym - when he isn't having some daddy son bonding time.

But what I am learning on the trail, on the road, and in the gym is spilling over into my 'everyday' life. Because I am learning that I really am stronger than I thought I was... mentally and physically.

So yeah - for me, I'm becoming a better Mom and Wife because of the lessons that I am learning on the trails, the road, and in the gym

Are you pushing past any fears in your life?

  1. Good for you for getting out there. I hate that some accuse moms of being selfish when they take care of themselves.

Pinrose Petal Pack Review and Giveaway - 10 Winners!

Bear with me, I know this blog is mainly about fitness, nutrition, and occasionally about being a stay-at-home mom, but I got the chance to review what I think is a pretty cool product and I wanted to share it with you. I'm not one to usually wear perfume. I have allergies, and I'm super sensitive to smells. So usually I just bypass perfume. But when I heard about Pinrose , I was intrigued. Being someone who is constantly in motion, and I know that many of you are the same way, I found this product to be very useful.  I'm talking about Pinrose, and their fragrances are in petal packs. They are perfect on-the-go packs. And on their website they have a  synesthesia   test where you basically look at a series of images and they conclude from that test what they think would be your best fragrances. I found the test very interesting. However, you were supposed to go with your gut and not think too long. On one of the images I actually changed my mind and changed...

Jogging Strollers Freedom And Fresh Air

Full Disclosure: I have partnered with Thule to #giveaway a Thule jogging stroller, but I have not been compensated in any form.  I remember when Lil Man was a baby. My only time to get in a workout was before Hubby went to work. Which meant I had to run at 5am or 6am after being up most of the night with Lil Man. You guessed it, those early morning runs just didn't happen most days. I tried. I really did, but I was exhausted. Yes, I have a treadmill which helped. But it didn't give me the freedom ( or the fresh air ) that my jogging stroller did. Pushing the stroller was hard. It became a challenge that I looked forward to overcoming. And on those days that running just wasn't going to happen, walking could. So I did. I could take Lil Man out at any time and get some exercise and fresh air. Sometimes it was all we needed to change both of our moods.

Pro Compression Marathon Socks Review & #Giveaway!

*affiliate links Full Disclosure: I received products free of charge for the purpose of providing a review. My opinions are completely my own based on my experience. If you know me, or have been following my blog for awhile, then you know that I am a firm believe in compression. Last year, I started having calf cramps, and my running buddies suggested calf sleeves. I listened and I am so very glad that I did! And honestly, I won't run without using compression. And once my run is over, I will usually 9 times out of 10 put on a pair of Pro Compression Marathon Socks for recovery. (FYI, I also love their low trainers to run in) Sshhh.. don't tell Hubby but I have an entire drawer full of Pro Compression socks. And well, I wear them everywhere - grocery shopping, preschool, you name it.
