Ok, so I used to laugh when I saw people wearing 'tape'. I mean, come on, it's just tape, what can it really do?
And then I had the opportunity to try Kinesiology tape from Poetic Health and provide a giveaway. Even as I was applying it I was skeptical. I did mess up the first piece, but after a couple of tries I was getting pretty good at how much stretch that I wanted for support.
Check out this video of my first time trying the tape.
The tape stayed on until I took it off (I should have rounded the corners though. I'll do that next time). I could feel the support, but it wasn't 'too much'. I could have also added more tape or more tension for a little extra support. Plus, I'm finding there are a lot of different ways that you can wrap.
Kinesio tape can be used for ankles, knees, arms, legs, back etc.. I think you get the idea.
Today, I tried it out on a hike with Lil Man on the Appalachian trail. We climbed up, down and over a lot of rocks and roots. But check out this view.
My ankle is still a little swollen from this past weekend's run (I Ran. I walked. I fell. I Bled. It was Awesome), and I felt it needed a little extra support.
I only taped one ankle (the one that's a little injured) and there was a significant difference between the taped and un-taped ankle. I could definitely feel the stability with the ankle that was taped with the Kinesiology tape from Poetic Health.
I am now a believer in Kinesio tape, and yes, I plan to use it regulary - especially when I'm out on the trails.
