I have never in my life done a 'detox'. Honestly, I've never considered one. And the idea of a colon cleanse made me squirm.
But I love tea, and I've never had loose leaf tea. So when I was given the option to try loose leaf tea, I said yes. I was a wee bit surprised to get my 30 Day Detox kit. My husband snickered and said "have fun with that."
Basically you drink the skinny tea every day. And then you drink the colon tea ever other day.
The skinny tea contains Yerba Mate, Oolong Tea, Jiao Gulam, Lotus Leaf, Lime leaf Extract, Ginger root and Rhubarb root. It was my first time using loose leaf tea, and I loved the infuser. And I enjoyed the taste of the skinny tea. I drank it plain without anything added. They recommend cutting out coffee since the skinny tea contains caffeine. I did cut out coffee today, but I'm not sure that I won't sneak a cup back in. I needed just a little more lead if you know what I mean.
The colon tea contains Senna leaf, Root Hawthorn Berry Extract, Lotus Leaf, Lime Leaf, Psyllium Husk Seed, Phaseolus Stem, Bark, and Valerian root. And at first I thought the smell was a little strong. But I actually liked the taste. In fact, I could have enjoyed a second cup. But well, the name of the tea is "colon" so I'm pretty sure 2 cups would be frowned upon :-)
And I know you are all wondering about my first experience with the 'colon' tea. Honestly, it wasn't really that eventful (thankful for that!!!). For some reason I had imaged a stomach flu type experience. It was NOTHING like that.
But so far (only a couple of days into this) I do have to admit that I feel a little more energized.
I'm curious to see how these 30 days work out, and if I actually lose any weight in the process. I'll let you know. I do know that the Colon tea helped me to sleep which was awesome.
But for anyone interested in trying Teami Tea Blends (they have other varieties than the detox), you can use GLASS10 for 10% off. Check them out at http://www.teamiblends.com/
Have you ever done any type of detox? Do you drink tea?

I like the idea of a tea cleanse vs the pill form. I think a think a cleanse can do your body good kinda like an oil change for the car. My husband would have said the same thing as your husband. I can't wait to hear the end results of your 30 days.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how it works out! I do know that today I had less of an appetite.. so I am intrigued.
DeleteI wish I could take the colon tea for sleep right now but I'm expecting so I'm sure it's a no no. Looking forward to your progress. I know teas are very good and provide lots of healthy benefits.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the pregnancy! :) And yes, it says it's a no no on the package.
DeleteI haven't done a real cleanse before, either. Fear of my body going completely out of whack has me hesitant. I do love drinking tea, though, and it might work out well. I can always use something to help my body work more efficiently.
ReplyDeleteI've really been thinking about detox teas and would love to read about your experience with it. I did a detox with oriental medicine in the past and while it was painful and involved a lot of trips to the bathroom, I experienced fantastic benefits: clear skin, better digestion, and more energy. It seems like this tea is more mild which can definitely come in handle, especially with my terrible schedule these days. So, keep us updated!
ReplyDeleteYeah, so far this hasn't been bad at all.. we'll see how it progresses and how I feel as it goes along.
DeleteI know there has been a lot of talk about the efficacy of detoxes, but I have had positive experiences with them. I have never tried Teami Tea before, but it sounds good. I drink a variety of herbal teas routinely and thoroughly enjoy them. Let us know how you like it!
ReplyDeleteIf you like tea, I would definitely give them a try. I really like the quality of their teas that I have tried.
DeleteI’ve had colonics before as well as done a detox at home. I have yet to do a tea cleansing. I have heard that Ginger root is good for detox, I may give this system a try.
ReplyDeleteI need to do some research on these different herbs that are in these teas. I think they are good for inflammation also..
DeleteThis should be an interesting series to follow. I like the idea of tea to help with a cleanse. I hope you are doing well with it all.
ReplyDeleteSo far so good!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in seeing what happens at the end of your 30-day tea cleanse. I had tea with senna in it before, and it works pretty quickly if you ask me. I love tea, so this type of cleanse would be easy for me to stick to.
ReplyDeleteHi I'm curious how this has been going?
ReplyDeleteWow this is really a good idea. Excellent post..Thanks for sharing such amazing and interesting post.
ReplyDeleteHi I'm wondering how its working out 2 weeks later... hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteMy stomach didn't like the detox tea.. but I loved the skinny tea and the loose tea. I really like their products.
