Well This Was A First

In case you haven't realized it by now, I'm a planner. I'd plan my poops if I could. So yeah, you get the idea. And my schedule called for a 10 miler today. So the idea of running a 5K never really entered my mind until a friend mentioned running it. And even then I sort of just blew it off. I mean, I hadn't planned on doing it, and I was supposed to get in a long run.

But as the day went on yesterday, I thought .. Why not? I could decide the day of (yeah I know, so not me).

I set an alarm for 6:40am to give myself time 'to decide' this morning what it was going to be. Lil Man got up at 6:16am so an alarm wasn't needed. I was up early. I had time. I haven't run a 5K race in almost 2 years. I was curious to see how I would do. Honestly, I was a little nervous. I know right? I finished a Marathon 3 weeks ago, and I was nervous about 3.1.

But I text my friend and told her I would be there.

The weather was great. I told myself that I was just going to run it and see what happened. And you know, I did ok! I didn't PR, and I knew it wasn't realistic for that to happen. But I guess I did PR post Lil Man being born. So in one sense it was a PR ;) And I ran a fairly even pace (for me). Mile 1 was 8:55, 8:43, 8:51. My overall time was 27:22.

I didn't place in my age group. Apparently these 40 year old women really know how to run fast. But it was a good race for me.

I got home, changed out of my sweaty clothes. Put on fresh running clothes. Made sure the family was ok, and headed out again for some more miles. (I blew off my long run today remember?). So I opted for 5 very hilly miles. And boy were my legs feeling it. I struggled through 5 miles, but I got it done. My training pace is supposed to be 10:45. I averaged 10:50. I figure that is close enough.

I'm one tired running Momma... but housework awaits....

Pinrose Petal Pack Review and Giveaway - 10 Winners!

Bear with me, I know this blog is mainly about fitness, nutrition, and occasionally about being a stay-at-home mom, but I got the chance to review what I think is a pretty cool product and I wanted to share it with you. I'm not one to usually wear perfume. I have allergies, and I'm super sensitive to smells. So usually I just bypass perfume. But when I heard about Pinrose , I was intrigued. Being someone who is constantly in motion, and I know that many of you are the same way, I found this product to be very useful.  I'm talking about Pinrose, and their fragrances are in petal packs. They are perfect on-the-go packs. And on their website they have a  synesthesia   test where you basically look at a series of images and they conclude from that test what they think would be your best fragrances. I found the test very interesting. However, you were supposed to go with your gut and not think too long. On one of the images I actually changed my mind and changed...

Jogging Strollers Freedom And Fresh Air

Full Disclosure: I have partnered with Thule to #giveaway a Thule jogging stroller, but I have not been compensated in any form.  I remember when Lil Man was a baby. My only time to get in a workout was before Hubby went to work. Which meant I had to run at 5am or 6am after being up most of the night with Lil Man. You guessed it, those early morning runs just didn't happen most days. I tried. I really did, but I was exhausted. Yes, I have a treadmill which helped. But it didn't give me the freedom ( or the fresh air ) that my jogging stroller did. Pushing the stroller was hard. It became a challenge that I looked forward to overcoming. And on those days that running just wasn't going to happen, walking could. So I did. I could take Lil Man out at any time and get some exercise and fresh air. Sometimes it was all we needed to change both of our moods.

Pro Compression Marathon Socks Review & #Giveaway!

*affiliate links Full Disclosure: I received products free of charge for the purpose of providing a review. My opinions are completely my own based on my experience. If you know me, or have been following my blog for awhile, then you know that I am a firm believe in compression. Last year, I started having calf cramps, and my running buddies suggested calf sleeves. I listened and I am so very glad that I did! And honestly, I won't run without using compression. And once my run is over, I will usually 9 times out of 10 put on a pair of Pro Compression Marathon Socks for recovery. (FYI, I also love their low trainers to run in) Sshhh.. don't tell Hubby but I have an entire drawer full of Pro Compression socks. And well, I wear them everywhere - grocery shopping, preschool, you name it.
