#TuesdayTidbit - Compression Gear

I do not have a medical degree, and I don't claim to have medical knowledge. I'm speaking from my personal experience only.

I honestly don't remember when it was... I think it was maybe marathon training? Or when I was running half marathons and longer distances? But I began to suffer with calf cramps. I mean severe calf cramps. I had friends suggest that I try calf sleeves. I ignored their advice for a couple of weeks, and then I tried a pair.


From my very first run with compression sleeves, I won't run without them. I'm serious. To me, my compression sleeves are as important as socks and shoes. I don't run without them.



I also wear them for cycling and other activities where I think that I could use some extra support.

In addition to sleeves, I also occasionally wear ankle sleeves (for support or recovery - especially after a tough trail run)



I wore thigh sleeves when my hamstrings were angry with me.

So you can say that for me personally compression gear is very important to me.

So today's #TuesdayTidbit is compression and how they have helped me (personally) with recovery. I am a firm believer in compression, and have been for years. I personally don't sleep in mine, and if I start feeling any discomfort I of course take them off. Jogging Strollers Freedom And Fresh Air

My only time to get in a workout was before Hubby went to work. Which meant I had to run at 5am or 6am after being up most of the night with Lil Man. You guessed it, those early morning runs just didn't happen most days. I tried. I really did, but I was exhausted. Yes, I have a treadmill which helped. But it didn't give me the freedom ( or the fresh air ) that my jogging stroller did. Pushing the stroller was hard. It became a challenge that I looked forward to overcoming. And on those days that running just wasn't going to happen, walking could. So I did. I could take Lil Man out at any time and get some exercise and fresh air. Sometimes it was all we needed to change both of our moods.
