Fuel 100 Electro-Bites Are Amazingly Awesome

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received Fuel 100 Electro-Bites For free from Fuel 100 as coordinated by Outdoor PR Gear Review in consideration for review publication. My opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

When I heard about Fuel 100 Electro-Bites, I was not familiar with them. Fuel 100 Electro-Bites are nutrition for athletes to help replace nutrients lost during exercise.

Personally, fuel is not always something that I think about it, until I need it.

I start to fade.
My calves start to cramp. Eventually my thighs will cramp, and by that time I'm pretty much done. So, I know that I need to fuel (and hydrate), and sometimes often depending on the day.

And since I've started trail running, I usually always try to have some type of fuel on me. I've run into issues on the road, but the last thing that I want to do is get into a situation on the trail where I can't get help if I need it. So I always try to make sure that if I'm doing any type of distance run (or strenuous or chance of getting super lost on the run) that I have some type of energy source with me.

Today, that energy source was Electro-Bites by Fuel 100.

First let me tell you about them. Electro-Bites are made from organic coconut oil, organic agave nectar, and non-GMO white potato starch. They replace sodium, potassium, magnesium along with key vitamins.

I found the flavors interesting: apple cinnamon, pumpkin spice, salty vanilla, salty vinegar, and simply salt.

I don't know about you, but packaging is a big deal to me when I'm carrying things on my run. I want something that doesn't take up a lot of room. The Electro-Bites fit perfect in my pocket on my Jette skirt from Skirt Sports (affiliate link). And the size will be perfect for my hydration belt or hydration pack. So I instantly liked that they were easy to carry.

I also like that they were easy to open. I've tried other fuel sources and when I waste time struggling to open something during a run (or worse a race), I'm not pleased. But Electro-Bites were very easy to open.

Open first glace, I thought, these things look weird. I expected them to be hard and sort of chalky.

To my surprise they melted almost instantly with a great taste and no after taste.

I was really pleased with how yummy they tasted. To recap, they were easy to carry, easy to open, and they tasted great. Overall, I'd say that I'm really pleased with Electro-Bites

Since I'm still injured (When The Unexpected Happens), I wasn't able to test the Electro-Bites on a long run. So, once I'm well and able to get back to some distance runs or strenuous workouts, I'll come back here and update my post to let you know how they worked as fuel. But with 100 calories, 220mg sodium, 55mg potassium along with Vitamin D, E, B6, B12 and magnesium, I'm thinking that they are going to be a great energy source for me.

Check them out, I like them, and I think you will too.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

When The Planner In You Must Be Flexible

In case you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m a planner. I know - shocker right?!? :) So although I love substitute teaching, it’s making the planner in me anxious. And it’s been reeking havoc on my workouts. Basically the morning of or maybe the night before, I find out if I’m working. So my day ( that I thought I had planned ) can be turned upside down in an instant. But, truthfully, isn’t that really the same with everyone?
