It's no secretly lately that I like my Mocha Latte. I've been having an afternoon treat to help keep the sugar cravings away (yes, I know the latte contains sugar ;) but it does help me from just eating sugar all afternoon and evening
But I wanted to share with you an alternative to that Mocha Latte. I haven't been making a daily swap, but I do occasionally swap out my coffee or mocha for an Amino Energy Drink from Optimum Nutrition
I tried the iced cafe vanilla flavor. And no, it doesn't taste as good as my mocha latte, but... it does have some essential amino acids which I know my body can benefit from .... especially on hard workout days. And I did enjoy the taste.
I am sensitive to caffeine, so I only used 1 scoop which is 5 calories. The serving size is 2 scoops, but I knew that would possibly give me the jitters. Also, it suggests not drinking any other caffeine during the day. And I didn't want to overdo it since I usually have a cup of green tea or coffee. Two scoops contain 100g of caffeine and 5g of amino acids.
I have found that using amino acids can help with soreness after a workout. Like I said, I don't take them regularly, but I do use them from time to time. And instead of taking a pill (which I usually do) this was a nice way to get my amino acids plus a pick me up.
Overall, if you take supplements, this is worth looking into. It doesn't contain protein; so this isn't a protein supplement. Instead, this is amino acids with caffeine (mainly from green tea and green coffee).
I always feel that you should eat your nutrients, but for those times that you can't, I'm not opposed to supplements.
I am giving away a container for one of you to try. Simply enter the giveaway below.
