#FitFridayConfessions - Eat The Rainbow

#FitFridayConfessions - Eat The Rainbow

I admit, I tend to get stuck in a rut with eating the same foods over and over. As I was driving Lil Man to school this week, I heard an announcement on the radio about eating 7 different colors of food every day. That's when I realized, I really need to expand my family's food. I've been focusing on trying to cut out processed food - that's going so so. Holidays are really hard aren't they? I can't seem to get this Easter Candy out of this house (other than eating it which isn't exactly helping me reach my goal - nor do I want Lil Man eating it all). So I think it might just 'disappear' soon, and I hope that it's just forgotten.

But I'm shifting focus a little and trying
to make sure that we are eating a variety of different foods and colors. Lil Man ate cauliflower and carrots this week (just a bite but he ate it). We've had green beans, corn, sweet potatoes, grapes, and apples to name a few. I feel better knowing that my family is expanding our choices.

Check out what Lil Man and I found at our local grocery store this week?

Portion control bags!!!! This is perfect for my family. Hubby and I argue over portion sizes (especially when it comes to nuts and craisins for his lunch). Now I can measure out a serving size. No more guessing if it's a half cup of fruit or whatever. So these bags are awesome for lunch and for snacks (especially since we are on the go so much).

I still have a long way to go on this journey to eating healthier, but it's one that I know I need to take.

  1. I need to stand down from the Easter candy already too. Today was much better, but still not down to zero candy. Ugh.

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

Pinrose Petal Pack Review and Giveaway - 10 Winners!

Bear with me, I know this blog is mainly about fitness, nutrition, and occasionally about being a stay-at-home mom, but I got the chance to review what I think is a pretty cool product and I wanted to share it with you. I'm not one to usually wear perfume. I have allergies, and I'm super sensitive to smells. So usually I just bypass perfume. But when I heard about Pinrose , I was intrigued. Being someone who is constantly in motion, and I know that many of you are the same way, I found this product to be very useful.  I'm talking about Pinrose, and their fragrances are in petal packs. They are perfect on-the-go packs. And on their website they have a  synesthesia   test where you basically look at a series of images and they conclude from that test what they think would be your best fragrances. I found the test very interesting. However, you were supposed to go with your gut and not think too long. On one of the images I actually changed my mind and changed...
