I do have my "go to" compression socks/sleeves, and I have the ones that I wear as a last resort because all of my other clothes are dirty. :)
So when I was given the opportunity to try
Run Forever Sports Calf Compression Sleeves, I was definitely curious to give them a try.
They are graduated, and yes to me it makes a difference. In other words, the top of the sleeve has less compression as the calf/shin part of the sleeve, and the bottom of this sleeve is high compression.
When I went to put on the Run Forever Sports Calf Compression Sleeves, it wasn't easy to slip the bottom of the sleeve over my foot. I mean it wasn't a massive struggle or anything, but it did require a little work to get the compression sleeve on. My first thought as I was trying to get them situated was 'uh oh, these might be a little too much compression'. Like I said, not all compression sleeves are created equal. In my personal opinion, some are too tight, some are too loose and some are just right.
But once I had the Run Forever Sports Calf compression sleeve on,
I forgot that I was wearing them. And to me, that was perfect and the compression was just right! These calf sleeves by Run Forever Sports do have a little more compression that some of the other sleeves that I have tried, but I find them to be excellent Calf Sleeves and I have worn them several times. Yes, they are in my "go to" pile. :) And yes, the compression definitely helps with any shin splits or calf pain that I have.
And for anyone curious, calf sleeves aren't just for runners/athletes. I wear these when I'm on my feet a lot. Actually, I wish I'd known about them when I worked retail, as they would have definitely helped with my leg cramps.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the Run Forever Calf Compression Sleeves. If you are looking for a pair of sleeves, I suggest you check them out.

I bought some compression sleeves to help with those shin splints I was suffering from last month. I didn't run in them, but I used them for recovery. Did they help? Did they make a difference? I don't know. And yesterday I read an article cautioning about their use, citing concerns about DVTs (blood clots). I'm going to do more research and most likely post about it on the blog in the future. I have a lot of friends who swear by them, tho!
ReplyDeleteI won't run without them (or even do any work that really involves my calves) since I had my calf tear. They have made a HUGE difference for me. But I'm curious to see what research you find out about DVTs and the correlation to compression. And I'm curious as to what kind of compression. I know that I have one pair that I don't really like because they are just way too tight.
