After discovering that ballroom dancing wasn't too far fetched for me to learn, I decided to check out salsa dancing with the Salsa Dance Mastery System.
But this video is step by step and I mean that literally. The steps are shown numerous times from close-up angles. So if you don't get it the first time (I didn't), they are repeated several times. You are encouraged to count the beats out loud. And I found that this did help. I also enjoyed the tidbits of history about the salsa dance during the dance lessons.
There are 8 hours of comprehensive lessons on all 5 DVDs. If you already have a a little knowledge of salsa, you have the option of course to move ahead. You can choose different sections and play those sections. Volumes 1-3 are for beginners; volumes 4-5 are intermediate.
Also the videos progress so once you learn the basics you continue to improve and move forward with advanced steps.
I won't show you any videos of me attempting to salsa. I'm afraid the Internet just couldn't handle the laughter :)
But Lil Man and I definitely had a blast dancing. And although some of these pictures are blurry because he was moving, I wanted to show you the look on his face. Trust me, the Salsa Dance Mastery System is lots of fun.
And I think this will be a fun way for me to cross train and burn some calories. One thing is for sure, I can't 'salsa' without smiling - what a fun way to spend some time. You never know, one day you might just catch me finally swaying my hips :)
So, tell me, do you like to dance?
