Because It's All About That Base 'Bout That Base

You're humming the song aren't you? :)  The truth is right now, it is all about the base - mileage that is. I think I've finally found a training plan. YEAH!!!

It's not the Run Less Run Faster plan, mainly because I don't have the base yet to start any of the programs. I'm still not 100% well, and I need to focus on building base (because it's all about that base, bout that base).. Ok.. I'll stop :)

So I'm going to use
a free training plan from McMillan Running. I'm using the 2-3 day plan from the book You (Only Faster). It includes 4 weeks of base building before it gets into the specified runs. I plan to build base through December, and if all goes well begin the plan in January to prepare for my March race. So technically 2 months to build base before I start into intervals and speed work etc.

Currently, I'm thinking of the Capital 10 Miler as my Spring race. I'm still scouting out the races to see what I want to run this upcoming year. I'm planning to do some races to 'race', and some races to 'run for fun'.

I do plan to run another marathon - just not next year. I ran 2 Marathons in 2013 (At 40, I Finished My First Marathon, I Gave Up During My 2nd Marathon), and then trained all Summer this year to decide that I needed a break. So I'm looking at maybe 2016 for a Full. I physically and mentally need a break from Marathon training. So this upcoming year I'm looking at 5Ks, 10Ks, and Half Marathons.

And I have to say, I'm pretty excited - especially now that I've found my plan.

Pinrose Petal Pack Review and Giveaway - 10 Winners!

Bear with me, I know this blog is mainly about fitness, nutrition, and occasionally about being a stay-at-home mom, but I got the chance to review what I think is a pretty cool product and I wanted to share it with you. I'm not one to usually wear perfume. I have allergies, and I'm super sensitive to smells. So usually I just bypass perfume. But when I heard about Pinrose , I was intrigued. Being someone who is constantly in motion, and I know that many of you are the same way, I found this product to be very useful.  I'm talking about Pinrose, and their fragrances are in petal packs. They are perfect on-the-go packs. And on their website they have a  synesthesia   test where you basically look at a series of images and they conclude from that test what they think would be your best fragrances. I found the test very interesting. However, you were supposed to go with your gut and not think too long. On one of the images I actually changed my mind and changed...

Jogging Strollers Freedom And Fresh Air

Full Disclosure: I have partnered with Thule to #giveaway a Thule jogging stroller, but I have not been compensated in any form.  I remember when Lil Man was a baby. My only time to get in a workout was before Hubby went to work. Which meant I had to run at 5am or 6am after being up most of the night with Lil Man. You guessed it, those early morning runs just didn't happen most days. I tried. I really did, but I was exhausted. Yes, I have a treadmill which helped. But it didn't give me the freedom ( or the fresh air ) that my jogging stroller did. Pushing the stroller was hard. It became a challenge that I looked forward to overcoming. And on those days that running just wasn't going to happen, walking could. So I did. I could take Lil Man out at any time and get some exercise and fresh air. Sometimes it was all we needed to change both of our moods.

Pro Compression Marathon Socks Review & #Giveaway!

*affiliate links Full Disclosure: I received products free of charge for the purpose of providing a review. My opinions are completely my own based on my experience. If you know me, or have been following my blog for awhile, then you know that I am a firm believe in compression. Last year, I started having calf cramps, and my running buddies suggested calf sleeves. I listened and I am so very glad that I did! And honestly, I won't run without using compression. And once my run is over, I will usually 9 times out of 10 put on a pair of Pro Compression Marathon Socks for recovery. (FYI, I also love their low trainers to run in) Sshhh.. don't tell Hubby but I have an entire drawer full of Pro Compression socks. And well, I wear them everywhere - grocery shopping, preschool, you name it.
