So, I'm recovering from the chest cold plague that seemed to hang on forever. And I am amazed at how much fitness it feels like I have lost in 10 days. I did have a decent run at the beginning of this week.Today's
I was planning on running 5 miles today. It was a very humid morning, but I ran 2 miles (flat) before I hit the hills. I've been practicing some downhills since my next marathon has a net downhill. Well, as I was going down the 2nd downhill, I felt 'it' pull - the fascia that I supposedly tore with my calf injury. It wasn't pain to the point that it changed my gait or made me stop. But I could definitely tell that it was there.
So, I took it easy on the rest of the run. But the biggest hills were yet to come, and by the time I had finished the hilly section, my leg was definitely letting me know it wasn't happy. So I stopped the run at 4.5 miles. Trust me, my OCD self had a hard time with that one (ha). But I had to remind myself that stopping at 4.5 was much smarter than pushing to 5 just so that I could log 5 miles today.
I immediately iced it when I got home. And I'm 'recovering' why Lil Man naps.
I've worn compression all day. I took the compression off for about an hour, but then I started being aware that it was bothering me a little. So compression socks it is. I don't think that I've done anything major. I think just a little TLC and it will be fine. I do plan to run tomorrow, but if it bothers me I will cut the run short and rest it. Full blown marathon training starts in July and I need to be ready!
Hope your fascia is feeling better ... I'm getting caught up and missed this post! How are you?
ReplyDeleteYep, it's better.. I'm in the middle of marathon training (about 12 weeks from race day)... How are things with you?
