Well, the official results showed at this point that I do not have pneumonia. But I'm sick, really sick. At times, just trying to walk across the room, I can't make it and have to stop and cough.
Although it isn't something that I want to do and I'm very disappointed, but I think the best decision for me is to defer to next year for the Half next weekend.
I've put a lot of training in for this race, but we have family plans two days after the race. And honestly, I think it would be best for my health not to run. I need to rest and fully recover. It would not be smart for me to run. And I need to be smart.
Disappointed, not what I planned, but it is what it is. I can't let it get me down. It's time to rest, get well, regroup and refocus cause I'm registered for my 3rd marathon. Yep! A couple of weeks ago, I made the commitment and registered for a fall marathon. Guess I'm marathon training once I can walk without wheezing! :)
Tough choice, but one race isn't worth a longer setback. :(
ReplyDeleteExactly. I'm really bummed, but I know this was the best decision.
DeleteSorry you are sick. I'm sure you made the right decision. I've been dealing with illness myself and I'm really glad I don't have any big races coming up soon. I do have the Peachtree Road Race 10k next month. www.pamrunsmarathons.com
ReplyDeleteI hope you get well soon! And good luck in the 10K next month!
DeleteSorry to read this, I understand the sentiments completely. No matter what, our health always comes first, and there will be more races. I know it stinks, but you aren't alone in having to defer races ... I think we all go through it now and then. Feel better! I've got some raging head cold at the moment myself (or allergies gone wild?) ... blech.
ReplyDeleteHope your head cold gets better! Yep, not my first time to miss a race - and probably not my last :) But I was really hoping to knock this one out of the park ha. Maybe next time ;)
