Please Like Me!

I've spent part of my afternoon 'googling' trying to find out how to promote myself. Who does that?!? Seriously, who takes time out of their busy life to try to find a way to promote their blog/facebook fan page? (By the way, my fan page is www.facebook.com/TodaysWordsOfGlass) Check it out and like it pretty please. ;)

I giggled like a little girl when I told my husband I got another 'like' - that makes 25 I said enthusiastically.  He looked at me like - what is wrong with you? He's probably thinking that I really shouldn't have taken all of those antihistamines yesterday. Maybe I am on a Zyrtec buzz.

But yesterday was rough rough rough with the allergies. At 10pm last night, I told my husband, "Listen, I took an Allegra this morning, 2 hours later with the pharmacist's ok, I took a Zyrtec. I'm thinking it's probably frowned upon for me to take another one, but I'm in bad shape. So I'm taking another Zyrtec. If something happens, tell the paramedics I took the 3 allergy pills within the same 24 hours."... And then I drifted off to sleep.

How do I feel today? I got up feeling like I was hit by an antihistamine bus. Wow, I'm pretty sure that's what hangovers feel like. But I've been sneeze free for most of the day. I still can't breathe, but it's better than yesterday. So tonight I will take (just the one) Zyrtec and hope that after it gets into my system, that it will help. I have a 10 mile run that I need to complete tomorrow.

I had planned on doing a 10K today, but since I ran the 5K last weekend, I decided to skip it and get my LR in instead. I hope by tomorrow morning I can push through 10 miles.

More importantly, I hope I'm not down for the count after my LR tomorrow. This pollen has been brutal!

  2. I've thought about setting up a FB account and then I never do (other than have my own personal one). I run tired of the social media, ha ha :) I'm trying to decide if I really want to push my blog or just let it be as it is, I just run out of time for it all. Keep me posted on what you think about using FB for your blog :)

    1. Since I only have about 30ish likes, I haven't decided yet. (ha). But I have 2 different blogs - one for running and the other my ramblings about being a stay-at-home mom. So I thought combining it on the FB page might work. But the verdict is still out!

I think you have a much stronger following on your blog than I do. Honestly, if you decide to do a FB page, I think you'd do well. I know I'd 'like' ya ;)

    2. Ha ha ... we'll see. I never use FB other than to keep up with high school people and half the time that gets exhausting :)

  3. Promoting blogs appears to be a full time job. I seen other's who have a twitter and facebook site too. Allergies are aweful to have especially as a runner. I'm glad to read you consulted with the pharmacist before taking additional antihistamines. Your tenacity shows in your blog and your running.

    1. Yeah, I definitely called the pharmacist. I am better, but the allergy meds are making me feel bleh! I'm hoping that in another week or so that the tree pollen will be better. I have a Half in about 6 weeks, and I need to get back on track with my training.

And yes, I'm finding promoting a blog can be a lot of work. So far it't been fun. I'm not sure it's been successful since my followers are scarce. :)

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

When The Planner In You Must Be Flexible

In case you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m a planner. I know - shocker right?!? :) So although I love substitute teaching, it’s making the planner in me anxious. And it’s been reeking havoc on my workouts. Basically the morning of or maybe the night before, I find out if I’m working. So my day ( that I thought I had planned ) can be turned upside down in an instant. But, truthfully, isn’t that really the same with everyone?
