Embracing The Changes In Life

Someone recently asked me about my running and how I currently feel about it. True, I'm not running 5 days per week as I have in the past. I'm not even running my usual 3. I think my new norm for awhile (maybe forever) might be 2 days a week.

How do I feel about it? I feel liberated. I feel like stepping outside of the model of runner to something bigger. Because I've said it before, and I will say it again, I am more than just a runner.
As I grow older with my family, I realize that life is constantly changing. I am constantly changing. And learning to embrace the change definitely makes for an easier transition. For probably the first time in my life, I am

Running and Nature

This week was a drop back week for me. I was able to get in a 7 miler on Tuesday, but the rest of my runs this week have been short ones. I've been rushed on time, and my knee has been bugging me a little.

The humidity dropped so I've had very nice temps in the mornings though which has been a nice change.

Today's run I was almost hit while running. Let's just say I was very surprised when they ran out in front of me. :) It sure got my heart started on my very hilly 5 miler today.

They stood for a very long time and just watched me.

Have you ever had a run in with nature while running?

  1. Geez, glad you're OK! My husband had a deer run straight toward him and fortunately he was able to jump out of the way just as the deer go to him. The deer ran through a wooden picket fence, splintering it everywhere! It was so scary!

  2. I had a deer run out in front of me in my neighborhood. A bit scary..I was waiting for a deer friend to come out and run me down..but he was solo.
