Embracing The Changes In Life

Image
Someone recently asked me about my running and how I currently feel about it. True, I'm not running 5 days per week as I have in the past. I'm not even running my usual 3. I think my new norm for awhile (maybe forever) might be 2 days a week.

How do I feel about it? I feel liberated. I feel like stepping outside of the model of runner to something bigger. Because I've said it before, and I will say it again, I am more than just a runner.
As I grow older with my family, I realize that life is constantly changing. I am constantly changing. And learning to embrace the change definitely makes for an easier transition. For probably the first time in my life, I am

Fitness Friday 5/24/13

Hallelujah it's Friday. It's been 'one of those' weeks for me. Lil Man at first wouldn't nap which left me feeling very frustrated with myself (if you're curious click here). And then my ease of going to the gym has been SERIOUSLY interrupted by major screaming and protesting from Lil Man. I do believe yesterday was our worst day ever for the gym (And The Screaming Gets Louder)

But as far as workouts go, this week has been another productive week. I'm still doing the plank challenge. So far I've been able to hold a plank for 3.5 minutes. Today the challenge is 4, but I haven't attempted the challenge yet :)

I got in some nice speed work on Tuesday and some nice hills on Wednesday (Recap).

Today was an early morning trail run. It was windy and rainy at times. I posted the run on my local running group's facebook page. Surprisingly, including myself, 7 of us showed up a little after daybreak. I got in 4 miles and some really nice hills. I do believe I'm enjoying trail running once a week.

Tomorrow's plan is 14 miles. However, the weather is turning much colder and very windy. (think upper 30's lower 40's and 15-20mph winds). This will be my longest run post marathon.

But that's my Fitness Friday roundup. How is your week shaping up?

    1. So great to meet you today. I just checked out your blog. So you are a big time trail runner. Awesome! And you have a great page!

I finished my first marathon this April. I'm registered for the Harrisburg Full in Nov with the Double creek Half in June, Bird in hand and Harrisburg halves in Sept.

    1. Well.... I pushed it off until Monday. :) But it turned out to be a great run. It was just a couple of miles late. :)
