When Setbacks Interrupt Training And Goals

Oh where to begin..... there is so much that I want to say and yet I can't get my thoughts organized. I guess that's what happens when it's been so long since I've written. I haven't forgot you .... the truth is that I haven't found the exact answer as to how to do it all. Being out of my normal schedule hasn't helped, and finding the time to fit it all in is still a process. But here goes.....

Happy To Get In Some Intervals

Ice has been my friend along with massaging the piriformis. Am I pain free? Not yet. But this week I’ve been power walking. I wanted to run a mile, but PT said no. I was able to incorporate some short slow run intervals with my power walk. I'm holding off on all upper body work until I see how things work out with running. So today was my 2nd time to incorporate some slow interval runs. I actually downloaded a timer on my phone ( although my Garmin forerunner 35 has an interval setting ).

The Roll Recovery R3

I have been compensated in the form of a gift card/money/coupon and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. All opinions expressed are mine and honest in nature . Well guess what? In addition to my hip injury, my good ole planter fasciitis has decided to say hello again. Am I just completely falling apart? Thankfully I recognized the signs, caught it early, and started rolling rolling rolling as soon as I felt the familiar pain. I also started wearing a night split for a few nights to stretch it out. But I received the Roll Recovery R3 for an honest review. At first I was skeptical about giving it a try. I mean, seriously, what can this roller do for me that other rollers or devices aren't?

Pain Returns And I'm Back To Physical Therapy

Well that didn't take long.... and no I didn't ramp up my mileage too soon. I increased gradually. In fact, I think the most mileage that I wracked up in one week was maybe 12 or 13 miles for the month of May? And that's the total for the week. One thing that I did do possibly wrong was that I increased my pace. I may have done that too much too soon. It was after the faster runs and the upper body work that I felt the injury returning. I'm not sure that it ever totally went away, but I did feel it more after this.

Bye Bye Physical Therapy

A couple of weeks ago, I asked PT if I was ready to graduate. We both decided to wait and see what happened after I'd been running/working out for a few weeks. Well last week, I graduated from PT. Yeah! Am I 100%? Umm... no... but basically I need to continue to stretch, foam roll, and listen to my body. We agreed that if I was hurting and after a couple of days of rest still had issues, that I would return. Sorry to be so MIA here on the blog. I have been focusing a lot of my attention on instagram it seems. I enjoy the community there, and the motivations from others. So if you follow me there then you know I've been running. Honesty And Motherhood

I was asked what value do I think is the most important to instill in our kids. Honesty - it's something that I try very hard to make sure that I stay true to. This blog and my social media accounts are a reflection of me. So I try very hard to make sure that it's a true reflection of who I really am. And when it comes to parenting, honesty is something that I feel very strongly about. I often express to Lil Man the importance of being honest - to tell me the truth rather than lie about a situation. I believe it's important to instill those qualities at a young age. Honesty builds trust. For those of you who've known me over the years know my story.
