Jogging Strollers Freedom And Fresh Air

Full Disclosure: I have partnered with Thule to #giveaway a Thule jogging stroller, but I have not been compensated in any form.

I remember when Lil Man was a baby. My only time to get in a workout was before Hubby went to work. Which meant I had to run at 5am or 6am after being up most of the night with Lil Man. You guessed it, those early morning runs just didn't happen most days. I tried. I really did, but I was exhausted.

Yes, I have a treadmill which helped. But it didn't give me the freedom (or the fresh air) that my jogging stroller did.

Pushing the stroller was hard. It became a challenge that I looked forward to overcoming. And on those days that running just wasn't going to happen, walking could. So I did.

I could take Lil Man out at any time and get some exercise and fresh air. Sometimes it was all we needed to change both of our moods.

He loved it. He still does. Even at 4 (he barely fits), we still run together. When Hubby is out of town, and my basement treadmill seems more dread than fun, Lil Man and I will take the jogger out. (Thule Urban Glide - Bringing Smiles Mile By Mile)

He's a great motivator. "Why are you walking? Go faster!" I love that I have been able to set an example for him with exercise. To him, it's just a normal daily part of our life. We run in all types of weather - yes - even in the Winter. Check out my Winter Running Tips.

But the jogging stroller has brought me so much more. Because of it, we've been able to explore our world together - a flock of birds - a corn field - an animal in the distance - cool clouds - the sun. You name it. We couldn't have experienced those things together if we'd gone to the gym, or stayed home and I'd run on the treadmill.

Don't get me wrong. I run on my treadmill, and Lil Man and I are regulars at the gym. But the jogging stroller opened our world, and I am forever thankful for that bond that he and I have created because of it.

And I would like to give one of you the opportunity to enjoy the freedom of exercising with a jogging stroller. I am partnering with Thule in giving away an Urban Glide or Urban Glide 2 Jogging Stroller. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to give one of you a stroller.

Please enter the giveaway tools below. And if you know of anyone you think that might would benefit from having a stroller, PLEASE pass this blog link on to them.

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

When The Planner In You Must Be Flexible

In case you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m a planner. I know - shocker right?!? :) So although I love substitute teaching, it’s making the planner in me anxious. And it’s been reeking havoc on my workouts. Basically the morning of or maybe the night before, I find out if I’m working. So my day ( that I thought I had planned ) can be turned upside down in an instant. But, truthfully, isn’t that really the same with everyone?
