#LJFitChallenge Update - Join Me On My Fitness Journey

In case you haven't heard, I'm doing the #LJFitChallenge. This challenge was exactly what I needed. I was slipping a little in motivation, and this challenge has helped me to get excited again about my goals. Because I would really like to reach them this year.

First of all, I would just like to be healthy.
I would like for my blood pressure to drop back down to normal. I'm carrying 10lbs that I wasn't carrying last year. I would like to increase my muscle mass, and improve my core.

And the list goes on and on. But the reality is, you can't reach your goals if you don't work for it.

I'm 3 weeks into the challenge, and I kid you not, this has pushed me beyond my comfort zone - awesome! Each day there is a set of exercises. For the first 2 weeks, you do 2 sets. The last two weeks of phase 1 you do 3 sets. I haven't looked at Phase 2 yet. I'm focusing on each day at a time.

There are some days that I cringe, because I found out that walk outs for me are extremely difficult. I was so surprised. I didn't think they would be that hard. But I know that sometimes doing what you don't want to do is exactly what you need to do. So I've been doing them the best that I can.

And I am seeing progress! Yesterday, as I was doing my exercises, I was able to do all of my push-ups without difficulty. And I survived the burpees without wanting to cry ;).

I'm still struggling with the nutrition portion - sigh. So as I am about to enter into Phase 2, I'm hoping to really focus on nutrition as well as the physical exercises. I know that if I want to be the complete package, I need to put in all of the work for the complete package.

One thing about this challenge, is that it's been easy to fit in around my every day life. I can sneak the exercises in while we are watching TV or playing. Lil Man often works out with me.

I challenge you to join me on the #LJFitChallenge by clicking here. And there is a great Facebook Group that's also been very helpful and motivating.

Join me - I'd love the company.

My fitness journey continues....

What are you doing to reach your personal goals?

  1. I love the LJ Fit challenge. I am making sure to get to Pure Barre classes a minimum five days a week and starting my training for my first half marathon of 2015.

  3. I've never heard of the LJ Fit Challenge, I should really look into that. I gained more weight than I should've while pregnant with my son and am having a hard time getting that scale to change, though I did go down 10 pounds this past month so I must be doing something right. I'm definitely going to look into this and might just join you!!

  4. I considered doing this challenge but with the yoga challenge it would have been too much! Looks like it's really motivating!

  5. I love that quote about how fitness is like marriage. SO very true. If all I think about is being active, I'm not taking action to make it a reality.

Guess I should suck up my bad attitude today and go push play on my DVD series. I'm in the last stretch of the 90 day program and can see the changes in my muscles. Keep plugging away at yours!!

  6. This sounds like a great challenge. I struggle with nutrient on a daily basis it always has been the worst part. I love when you can slip exercise into your daily routine without much effort.

  7. I have more then 10lbs to lose, but I do best during the summer. I love to take long walks with the kiddos, since I don't have a car I end up walking 1+ miles one way to get things done. Then the cold WI winter comes back around.

  8. This sounds like a great journey and I'm hoping you have nothing but success! I've recently also started my own fitness journey per say... so hoping I can stick to it! It's certainly hard with the crazy life of a blogger ;)

  9. I love your motivation! Despite it being out of your comfort zone you still manage to push yourself. Maybe I should try including my kids, my mom used to put on her Jack LA Lane videos and I'd work out with her. My youngest who's 4 may get a little kid out of that. I'm so out of shape despite being petite and it's frustrating because I used to do martial arts and ran for fun.

  10. Well said, Amy! In the end, it’s all about you, and your willingness to work towards your goals. I commend you for the discipline and determination you showed during the challenge. Just look at incredible results you earned from it. Kudos to you for stepping out your comfort zone, and being rewarded for doing so!

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

When The Planner In You Must Be Flexible

In case you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m a planner. I know - shocker right?!? :) So although I love substitute teaching, it’s making the planner in me anxious. And it’s been reeking havoc on my workouts. Basically the morning of or maybe the night before, I find out if I’m working. So my day ( that I thought I had planned ) can be turned upside down in an instant. But, truthfully, isn’t that really the same with everyone?
