The Gift Of Giving #ChosenByKids Event

* This is a sponsored post. However all opinions expressed are my own.

Lil Man is old enough this year to understand the idea of receiving gifts and giving gifts. It melts my heart to see his excitement to give to others. He can't wait for Christmas morning so that he can give Daddy his gifts that he bought for him.

But, one of his most favorite things this past weekend was picking out a toy for one of his best buddies at school. They are having their Christmas party this upcoming week. Each child was given a name of another student. And we were asked to take the child shopping with us, and let them pick out a toy for that individual. I honestly wasn't really sure how Lil Man would do. I mean, would he want to buy for himself instead of giving to someone else?  This is the toy department you know. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised at how excited he was to get a gift for someone else.

We attended the #ChosenByKids Walmart Toyland event at our local Walmart where the latest toys were showcased.

After browsing the shelves, Lil Man picked the perfect gift for his classmate, and he can't wait to give it to him. I also had the chance to get some ideas for Lil Man. And I think Lil Man is going to be super surprised that his Daddy and I are giving him this - the vTech InnoTab Max tablet.

The vTech InnoTab Max is for ages 3-9 (perfect!). It has a 7" multi-touch screen. And it supports Kid Connect where you can message to and from smartphones (1st year free, subscription service after that).

It comes with 15 onboard apps, 2 free downloadable apps, and 1 Toca Boca app.

In addition to the great educational fun apps that are available, I know Lil Man will love the camera. He loves taking pictures. It even has High-definition multimedia interface. It has a handle, Flip & Stand fold, and a removable cover. He is going to love it. And I'm about to burst with excitement to give it to him!

The excitement of giving is definitely contagious, and it doesn't necessarily have to be an item. Giving someone your time is also a precious gift. Who are you giving to this year?

  5. My oldest asked Santa for this tablet. As far as giving, we have adopted a few families and are buying toys and gifts for them. I loved seeing my girls get excited about helping me shop for others. It really is a good feeling to know you are helping to make someone's Christmas special

Self Care Is Not Selfish It's Necessary

It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. And I'll say it just one more time in case you didn't hear me. It's not selfish to take care of yourself. I have found through experience that when I'm not taking care of myself, not only do I suffer but my family suffers. So ditch the mom guilt and take the time that you need! I have a tendency to keep pushing my needs aside until I reach a breaking point. We've had a very busy fun summer so far. However, I've struggled to get some quality ' me ' time to decompress. I'll spare you the meltdown that ensued. But the reality check that followed prompted me to take action.

Running My Life

Wow, has it really been 2 years since my last post? I suppose that I allowed life to get in the way. For any faithful blog readers, I apologize. Although, I'm not sure how many people actually read blogs anymore. I think most people use other social media platforms.  (By the way, drop by and say hi on Insta. )  But for some reason, each year when I pay for my google domain, I can't seem to let it go. As silly as it sounds, this little space is mine. And lately I've been struggling with ownership and acceptance. And my domain renewal was a not so gentle reminder that I have a voice .  Seriously, you'd think by 48 that I'd have this figured out - nope - apparently not. However, I am wise enough to know that we have a choice to allow situations to harms us or make us stronger. I'm choosing to let this mid-life quandary make me stronger. And because of this, I'm setting goals, taking charge, and reexamining priorities.  Movin' on...

When The Planner In You Must Be Flexible

In case you haven’t figured this out by now, I’m a planner. I know - shocker right?!? :) So although I love substitute teaching, it’s making the planner in me anxious. And it’s been reeking havoc on my workouts. Basically the morning of or maybe the night before, I find out if I’m working. So my day ( that I thought I had planned ) can be turned upside down in an instant. But, truthfully, isn’t that really the same with everyone?
