Using An App To Help Me Stay On Path

Image
Hello there you blank beautiful screen. It's been awhile. I took a little time last week to just step back, disconnect, and honestly breathe. I felt myself needing a breather and a moment to adjust to going back to work (part-time), Lil Man going to school full time, soccer and running for him, and just daily life. You know what I mean.

My typical morning is starting to consist of some type of early morning workout, rushing home to get lunches made, making sure I'm back in time so hubby can get to work, grabbing a quick shower, getting Lil Man to the bus stop, finally getting breakfast for me, packing my work bag, getting laundry started, cleaning up the kitchen, taking the dogs in and out and in and out...  and if possible I try to get caught up on email/social media before I head into work.

But I'm back and feeling a little more like I have things under control. I think I'm finding

4 Mile River Run

This morning started off dreary, foggy and rainy. I had planned to possibly try to get a 2 mile run in on the dreadmill. I haven't run in a week due to being sick, and I wasn't sure how I'd feel. By 2:00pm the sun was starting to shine. By 3:30 it was gorgeous outside. I decided to go down to the river walk.
There weren't many runners out when I was there. But it was a beautiful day to run. I was overdressed. I didn't need the long sleeve shirt. I was struggling at first. I hadn't run in a week, and I always have problems with my breathing when running. Add in the fact that I'm still congested and that didn't help matters. I had told myself that I would like to run 3 miles since it was so nice. As I was nearing the half way point, I was close to an intersection. I decided to run to the intersection and turn around.
When I got back to my starting point, I was just shy of 4 Miles. Instead of stopping, I decided to continue on the path until I reached 4 M…

Sick

Can we say sick? As in I am extremely sick. I haven't been able to workout all week. I just walked up the stairs, and I am wheezing like I just ran up a huge hill. I hope I'm about to take a turn for the better. I sure hope so. This has been a tough week.

Vinnie's Kids 5K Run

What a disappointment this race turned out to be. I think I put too much emphasis and pressure on myself to go out and PR. I started off with an 8:40 mile, but I just couldn't hold on to it. I got slower and slower as the distance went on. I am still waiting on the official results, but I believe I came in at 28:22.

But I suppose every run/race can't be a great one. I'll just have to train harder/smarter for the next one. I just registered for Logan's Run for April 10. I also plan to do either another 5K or a 5 Mile race on the 17th. I'm waiting to see what the fertility dr says about my running before I register for any more. Hopefully I will be able to continue to run the shorter distances.

HG got some good pics today for me of the race. I'll have to get them posted.

I am putting my training for a half marathon on hold this year. My current hope is that I will be allowed to continue to run the shorter distances. I guess I'll know in about 4 weeks or so…

Run 4 Luck 2010

The wind was incredible. We lost electricity around 4:00am. It stayed off for an hour before it came back on. Then it went off again. It blinked off 3 times before I left for the race. That should give you some indication of the wind that I was dealing with. As I type this, we currently do not have electricity. I was home for about 30 minutes before it went off again. This time it has been off for hours.

I had really wanted to do this race in under 39. But with the weather conditions, I just wasn’t sure how it would go. The starting horn went off and here we went. I was hemmed in and determined to get unhemmed. So yes, I went out too fast. Way too fast for me. At one point my pace was around 7:00 minutes which was way too much for me. I slowed down but tried to keep a decent pace as best as I could.

I was doing ok until around mile 2.5 and I started struggling. I didn’t remember it being this hilly last year. I tried to keep my pace under 10:00 but at times just couldn’t.

Around mil…

4 Mile Run

What a BEAUTIFUL day for a run. The temps were in the mid 50's. The wind was a little chilly at times, but overall it was truly gorgeous. I had a long day at work with a long meeting, but it felt great to just get out there and run today. I struggled during the middle of the run, but I was able to push through it at the end. I hope I have a decent run on Saturday.

My goal is to get a short run in tomorow.  Hopefully my schedule will allow it.

Today's Mile splits
Mile 1 ~ 9:39
Mile 2 ~ 9:59
Mile 3 ~ 10:19
Mile 4 ~ 9:05.

Saturday Run ~ State Hospital

The sun was beautiful today on my 3 Mile run. It was still fairly cold with the wind chills in the upper 20's, lower 30's but the sun made a huge difference in the feel. I'm a little disappointed with my pace lately. I feel like I am getting slower instead of faster. But maybe that will change soon.

My first race this year is next weekend. It's a 4 Mile race. The best I can remember is that it is somewhat hilly. Right now, the weather forecast is showing rain. Hopefully between now and then it will change. It wouldn't be the first race I ran in the rain, but I'd prefer it not be raining.

I would like to run it under 39:00, but time will tell. Lately my pace has either just been under 10:00 or over 10:00 per mile. I guess we'll find out next weekend.
